Legislation: HB 7031 removes references to “common core,” keeps common core standards. How did your rep vote?

HB 7031 was signed into law by Florida Governor Rick Scott. The legislation removed references to the term “Common Core” from state law; However, the state standards, based on Common Core, essentially remain in place. The bill revised the definition of the term “Next Generation Sunshine State Standards,” the state’s public K-12 curricular standards.” In the 2013 legislative session the legislature passed SB 1076, which changed “Sunshine State Standards” to “Next Generation Sunshine State Standards,” providing that “Next Generation Sunshine State Standards include specified common core standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics.”
